FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: The design refinements are in response to City Council direction from
the March 21~ meeting. At that time the Council approved the architectural schematic design with the
exception of the exterior building elevations. The comments on the design were to "soften" the building
open up the comers to reduce the scale of the central entry area and to keep the shape as a rotunda.
The design refinements address the Council's comments by lowering the central rotunda and reducing the
building size on the sides of the entry. The consultant has also redesigned the front arcade to utilize a
round column form and a wider spacing between columns to allow for a more inviting entry. None of
these changes will affect the floor plans or site plans of the schematic design.
Staff will be providing drawings and a model of the redesigned exterior of the building at the meeting.
Recommendation
It is the recommendation of Staff that the City Council take the following action;
1 Receive presentation from the Staff
2 Receive public comment
3 Approve Library Design Refinements
