'~, ~__ COPIES TO: Les McDonald Construction DESCRIPTION: In March of 1993, the City Council awarded Contract 93-02, the Annual Street Overlay/North Avenue Bike Path to Les McDonald Construction. The project involved repair of street base failures and the placement of a 1-1/2" asphalt overlay on the designated streets and the first phase of a bike path along the Southern Pacific Railroad Right-of-Way. The North Avenue Bike Path connects Dougherty Road to the proposed bike path along Alamo Creek next to the Dublin Meadows project. Repair was also done on selected streets which were later slurry sealed. The following streets were overlaid: Aldea Street (Brighton Drive to Tamarack Drive) Larkdale Avenue (Bristol Road to Aldea Street) Callan Street (Brighton Drive to Burnham Way) Burnham Way (Callan Street to Tamarack Drive) Mansfield Avenue (Burnham Way to Brighton Drive) Emerald Avenue (Tamarack Drive to Amador Valley Boulevard) Burton Street (Tamarack Drive to Amador Valley Boulevard) Ann Arbor Way (Amador Valley Boulevard to Lancaster Road) Lancaster Road (Penn Drive to York Drive) Ebensburg Lane (Clark Avenue to Maple Drive) Sunwood Drive (Gardella Drive to Landale Avenue) Hillrose Drive (Donohue Drive to Starward Drive) village Parkway/Clark Avenue Loop (South of Dublin Boulevard) Regional Street (South of Dublin Boulevard) Sierra Court (North of Trinity Court) Trinity Court The Overlay Program receives funds from the State-Local Transportation Partnership Program (SB 140/300), which must be matched by non-State Gas Tax monies. As a cost saver, the Bike Path project was included with the Overlay Program because of the lower bids garnered when asphalt-related projects are done in one program. The Bike Path is funded by a grant from the Transportation Development Act {TDA). The City Engineer has reviewed the work on the project and determined that it is complete and in accordance with the approved plans and specifications. Staff recommends that the City Council accept the improvements and authorize final payment and retention to Les McDonald Construction in the amount of $37,084.26. a:~overlay~agstacpt - 2 -
