Authorize Mayor to execute agreement
FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
$45,000 has been budgeted as capital outlay in the Street
Maintenance Operating Budget for the slurry seal
construction work.
The cost of design and inspection is budgeted in the
Engineering Operating Budget as part of the General
Engineering cost.
The street pavement remove and replace work is budgeted in
the operating budget for street repair. The street repair
work under this contract is for smaller isolated pavement
failure areas, the larger areas having been repaired with
the Annual Street Overlay project (total budget $240,900).

DESCRIPTION: At its meeting of April 26, 1993, the City Council
authorized Staff to advertise for bids for Contract 93-06, Annual Street Slurry Seal
Program.
Slurry Seal is a preventive maintenance technique used to prolong the life of a
street. It consists of a sand/oil mixture which seals cracks and provides a new
uniform wearing surface. The slurrying of C%ty streets is presently on a seven-year
cycle.
Five (5) bids were received, the lowest of which was $70,192.65 from American
Asphalt Repair & Resurfacing CO., Inc.
Staff has reviewed the low bidder's proposal and checked with references and
recommends that the City Council award the bid to the low bidder.

RESOLUTION NO. 60-93
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
AWARDING CONTRACT 93-06 ANNUAL STREET SLURRY SEAL PROGRAM
TO
AMERICAN ASPHALT REPAIR & RESUNFACING CO., INC.
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did, on May 18, 1993, publicly open,
examine, and declare all sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved
Plans, Specifications, and Modifications for Contract 93-06 ANNUAL STREET SLURRY
SEAL PROGRAM authorized by the City Council on April 26, 1993, which Plans,
Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description
of said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings under the request
for bids; and
WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Engineer, who has
recommended that the bid hereinafter mentioned is the lowest and best bid for doing
said work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Dublin does hereby award City of Dublin Contract 93-06 to the lowest responsible
bidder therefor, to wit American Asphalt Repair & Resurfacing CO., Inc., at a bid of
Seventy Thousand One Hundred Ninety-Two Dollars and Sixty-Five Cents ($70,192.65),
the particulars of which bid are on file in the Office of the City Engineer
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 24th day of May, 1993.
