A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
APPROVAL OF APPROPRIATION FOR 2002 BLOCK GRANT FUNDS
WHEREAS, the City Council authorized Staff to apply for the Federal Local Law Enforcement
Block Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice, through the Bureau of Justice Assistance,
awarded a 2002 grant in the amount of $19,652 to the City of Dublin; and
WHEREAS, Dublin Police Services, in accordance with the Block Grant application instructions,
convened an Advisory Board to review the application and make non-binding recommendations for the
use of the funds; and
WHEREAS, the Advisory Board unanimously recommended that 100% of the proceeds from the
Law Enforcement Block Grant be used to partially offset the salary of the Crime Trends/Bicycle Officer;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council held a public hearing on August 6, 2002; and
WHEREAS, a Staff Report was submitted recommending that the City Council approve the
expenditure of the Block Grant funds for the Crime Trends/Bicycle Officer; and
WHEREAS, the City Council did hear and exercise their independent judgment and considered all
reports, recommendations, and testimony hereinabove set forth.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Block Grant funds in the amount of $19,652
are hereby appropriated to fund a portion of the salary of the Dublin Police Services Crime Trends/
Bicycle Officer for Fiscal Year 2002-2003.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of August, 2002.
