FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Budget for Shannon Center Furniture/Equipment $ 527,960
Bid Amount $ 250,082
DESCRIPTION: The Fiscal Year 2008-2009 Capital Improvement Program Budget
includes funds to purchase furnishings for the new Shannon Community Center. The Shannon Community
Center Furnishings Request for Proposals included; banquet tables and chairs, classroom seating and
tables, lounge seating and tables, office furnishings, and preschool furniture. The request for proposal also
included auxiliary banquet equipment for Ambrose Hall.
Staff issued the Notice to Bidders and RFP on September 26, 2008 and posted public notices in the Valley
Times. After atwo-week solicitation period, on October 13, 2008 one bid was submitted by One Work
Place in the amount of $250,082.20.
The estimated costs for the furnishings were incorporated in the budget for the Shannon Community
Center project. Staff recommends adding a ten percent contingency to the furnishing project for a total
estimated cost of $275,090.42.
Staff has reviewed the bid proposals and confirmed the low bidder's references. Staff recommends
awarding the contract to One Work Place. If the contract is awarded the project will commence
immediately and finish by January 2009.
It should be noted that the balance available in the Shannon Community Center Furniture and Equipment
Budget of $252,870 is earmarked for other furnishings and equipment such as custom wood furniture for

the common areas, which will be made from wood salvaged from the original Shannon Community
Center. Other equipment will include telephone and computer networking equipment, security, and
audio/visual systems. While a formal competitive bidding process is not required for these purchases, the
equipment will be procured under the procedures of the City Purchasing Ordinance.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council adopt the Resolution awarding Contract
08-10 to One Work Place.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
AWARDING CONTRACT NO. 08-10
SHANNON COMMUNITY CENTER FURNISHINGS
TO
ONE WORK PLACE.
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did, on October 13, 2008, publicly open, examine and declare all
sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans and Specifications for Contract No. 08-10,
which Plans and Specifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description of said work and for all
particulars relative to the proceedings under the request for bids; and
WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Clerk, and the bids were reviewed to determine
the lowest bid which was responsive to the requirements of the bid documents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does
hereby award Contract No. 08-10 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to wit, One Work Place, at a
base bid of Two Hundred Fifty Thousand Ninety dollars and Twenty cents ($250,082.20) the particulars of
which bid are on file in the office of the City Engineer.
