RECOMMENDATION: Confirm the dates associated with the Fiscal Year 2009-2010 Goals
& Objectives process or provide alternate dates.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None.
DESCRIPTION: The annual Goals & Objectives process accommodates input from
City Commissions and Committees, the City Council, the Public and Staff. The adoption of the Goals and
Objectives program includes a prioritization process where the City Council designates each goal as
having either a high, medium, or low priority. All high priority objectives are listed in the Budget
document.
The Goals & Objectives process for each new fiscal year (July 1 -June 30) typically begins for Staff in
December. Input is solicited from City Commissions and Committees in January and a joint workshop
with the City Council and each Commission is held in February. The City Council formally reviews the
comprehensive Goals & Objectives Program and determines the prioritization as part of a Preliminary
Budget Study Session in March.
Staff requests that the City Council consider the following dates for meetings related to the City's Fiscal
Year 2009-2010 Goals & Objectives process:
1. City Council & Commissions - G & O Workshop Saturday, February 7 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon
2. City Council -Goals & Objectives /Budget Study Session Tuesday March 31 2009 at 6:00 p.m.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council confirm the dates associated
with the Fiscal Year 2009-2010 Goals & Objectives process or provide alternate dates.
