SUBJECT: Freeway Closures to Accommodate the West Dublin Bay Area
Rapid Transit (BART) Station Overcrossing Construction

RECOMMEN I Receive the presentation, and provide any comments.
FINANCIAL ATEMENT: There are no financial impacts associated with the presentation.
DESCRIPTION: Jim Gravesand, Group Manager, Capital Programs in Transit System
Development of BART, and the City's Public Works Director will make a presentation to update the City
Council on the progress at the West Dublin BART Station. The presentation will highlight project
progress and expected construction schedules for the closure of I-580 to accommodate the erection of the
two overcrossings between the station and the parking garages on either side of the freeway. Closures are
expected to occur sometime mid-February 2009, and BART's outreach efforts to inform the surrounding
communities and motorists will be explained, as well as the phasing that will be used to minimize any
impacts of the closures.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council receive the presentation, and
provide any comments.
