The annual sidewalk program repairs offset sidewalks which may become tripping hazards. The grinding contract, which removes offsets not caused by tree roots or excessive ground movements, covered two fiscal years: 1994-95 and 1995-96. The funds for the grinding contract are part of the Annual Sidewalk Safety Repair budget, and funds not used for grinding are used for the sidewalk removal and replacement contract. Central Coast Grinding corrected offsets at 615 locations in June 1995 and 600 locations in 1996. A new contract will be put out to bid again in early 1996-97 to continue this program, assuming Council approves the sidewalk program in the five-year Capital Improvement Program. The City Engineer has reviewed the work on the project and determined that it is complete and in accordance w/th the approved specifications. Staffrecommends that the City Council accept the contract as complete. g:kmnt cproj\grin ding\agslacpt COPIES TO: Central Coast Grinding ITEM NO. ~
