DESCRIPTION: On October l, 1996, the City Council awarded the San Ramon Road
Drainage Improvement Project to KBR Construction. This project is a combination of two storm repair
Capital Improvement Projects along San Ramon Road.
Section one of the project reinstalled and rip-rapped the banks of the drainage channel near the Shannon
Center. This was accomplished by clearing vegetation along the stream's edge and building a three foot
high earth bank. For slope protection, filter cloth overlain with rip-rap (Clean boulders up to 18 inches in
diameter) was placed on the stream side of the bank. Section two of the project installed protection for the

properties which border the service road above Caroline Ct. To achieve this, a two foot high barrier was
erected immediately west of the existing property fence. The barrier is made of pressure treated wood and
extends from an existing soundwall to a concrete drainage channel.
The contractor has now satisfactorily completed the work. It is appropriate for the City to accept the work ~--.
and complete the project payments.
Other work within the Capital Improvement Projects, but outside this contract, is still underway. This
work includes some regrading of the access road along the east side of San Ramon road together with
some fencing in the same area.
At this time, Staff recommends that Council accept the contract with KBR Construction as complete,
leaving the project opeh until the above pending work is completed.
