HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 004-83 FamilyCommWk RESOLUTION NO. 4 - 83 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN DECLARING THE WEEK OF MARCH 7-13, 1983 AS FAMILY COMMUNICATION WEEK WHEREAS, the increase in unintended teenage pregnancy is posing many risks to the health and welfare of these teenagers, their children and families; and WHEREAS, the growing number of teenage births has caused a great increase in state and federal welfare support and medical aid costs; and WHEREAS, the State of California Department of Health Services--with the support and participation of dozens of California youth, family health and education service groups--is sponsoring Family Communication Week to be held March 7-13, 1983 to raise general awareness of the problem of teen pregnancy and to encourage parents to participate in community sponsored activities to help them communicate with their children about family values concerning sex. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin hereby endorses and supports the objectives and goals of the Family Communication Program and declares March 7-13, 1983 Family Communication Week in the City of Dublin. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Dublin urges parents in this community to participate in a family communication workshop or event of their choice during Family Communication Week. 1983.
