RECOMMENDATION: (~_~uthorize Staff to advertise for bids.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
The project costs are budgeted in the Capital Improvement Budget.
The total project budget is $ 202,100 with $170,000 budgeted for
construction work.
DESCRIPTION: This project will mitigate the slope failure which occurred west of
San Ramon Road north of Vomac Road. During the heavy rains of the past winter, the hillside in this area
experienced a soil slip-out. The repair area is situated approximately 60 feet down slope from residents of
Rhoda Avenue and it is desirable to address these conditions at this time.
The primary goal for this project is to repair the unstable conditions evidenced by the existing slides. The
slope will be stabilized while preserving the condition of the area. These repairs will include excavation
of the slide area, installation of a subdrain system and construction of an engineered fill.
Notices will be sent out to residents prior to the beginning of work in order to advise of the work to be
performed.
Staff recommends that the City Council approve authorization to advertise for bids for Contract 98-12,
San Ramon Road Slope Repair.
