DESCRIPTION: The 2009 Bike to Work Day and the sponsored Energizer Station
were held on Thursday, May 14, at the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station underpass. The Energizer
Station, co-hosted by the Cities of Dublin and Pleasanton, Alameda County Public Works, Dublin
Cyclery, Hacienda Business Park, and BART saw over 400 cyclists pass through, a 30% increase over last
year. Alameda County also saw a 45% increase in the number of cyclists reported. In the Bay Area, the
final tally reflected over 200,000 cyclists biking to work, a 36% increase over the previous year's event.
At the Dublin Energizer Station, bicyclists received refreshments, T-shirts, and tote bags containing
giveaways from sponsors. A list of local sponsors is below. Staff would also like to offer recognition to
Dublin Cyclery, a collaborating organizer of the Dublin Energizer Station who helped table the event.

In recognition of the contributions, the sponsors will be presented with certificates of appreciation for
supporting Bike to Work Day. Per Government Code Section, 37354, it is recommended that all gifts and
contributions be formally accepted by the City Council.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council recognize the sponsors and
formally accept the contributions.
