Article 3 Funding for the Alamo Canal Bicycle Path Capital
Improvement Project from Iron Horse Trail to 1-580

RECOMMENDATION: ~ Adopt resolution directing Staff to apply for TDA funding
FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
If the City of Dublin's TDA grant application is approved, the City
will receive $21,788 to partially fund the construction of the Alamo
Canal Bicycle Path project from Iron Horse Trail to 1-580.
Additional funds to complete this project will come from General
Funds ($128,082) and Transportation for Clean Air Fund
($154,080).
DESCRIPTION: City Staff has submitted the Alamo Canal Bicycle Path Capital
Improvement Project to the Audit Committee of the Alameda County Transportation Advisory Committee
for consideration for Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 3 funding. Alameda County and
the cities within Alameda County compete for TDA funding, which is available for certain pedestrian and
bicycle projects, on an annual basis. If the City's application is approved, TDA funds in the amount Of
$21,788 would be available in Fiscal Year 2000-01.
The Alamo Canal Bike Path project from Iron Horse Trail to 1-580 is estimated to cost $303,950. The
TDA funds that will be available to the City are not sufficient to build the entire project; however, these
funds could be used to construct a portion of the trail.
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the Resolution directing Staff to apply to the Metropolitan
Transportation Commission for this TDA Article 3 funding for the Alamo Canal Bicycle Path project
from Iron Horse Trail to 1-580.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
APPROVING THE ALAMO CANAL BICYCLE PATH PROJECT
FROM IRON HORSE TRAIL TO 1-580 AND DIRECTING STAFF TO APPLY
TO THE METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION FOR
TRANSPORTATION DEVELOPMENT ACT ARTICLE 3 FUNDING
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Dublin advocates the safety of bicyclists and
pedestrians; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the safety-related improvement know as the Alamo
Canal Bicycle Path Project from Iron Horse Trail to 1-580, along the Zone 7 right-of-way;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby
approve the Alamo Canal Bicycle Path Capital Improvement Project from Iron Horse Trail to 1-580 and
directs Staff to submit an application to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission for funding of the
project under Article 3 of the Transportation Development Act.
