HomeMy WebLinkAbout8.2 Atmt 2 Applicant StatementI currently own a learning daycare (License# 013419504) and would like to
get my larger daycare license. My daycare gives parents an opportunity to
leave their children in a safe, nurturing, and activity oriented environment
while they work FT/PT or run errands. My current g arents are looking for a
small environment to leave their children in vs. large daycare centers. My
hours of operation are generally from 8:30 - 3:30PN1 during the week.
I am always trying to help my working/ nonworkin;; parents out. They have
expressed a need to send their children full time and in my current situation
of 6 kids at a time, I am unable to meet their needs and the needs of other
potential parents. This is the primary reason I am applying for my large
daycare license.
The children have a lot of fun while in my daycare. The purpose of my
daycare is to give the kids a chance to socialize and have some fun learning.
The children play, draw, eat snack and learn during their stay. They do not
watch T.V. as I find it not very helpful in their deve',opment. Children crave
routine; therefore, my day is planned according to their developmental
reeds.
I am doing business as Fallon Preschool. I am known by that name because
I want prospective/current parents to know that their children's time is not ,
being wasted at my daycare while they are busy working. Most daycares are
set up to let children play, eat and some even let their kids watch T.V. I want
my parents to know that their children are having ec.ucational fun while they
are busy working. The word preschool gives my daycare a professional feel
even as a daycare. I am not a preschool in the true sense since my activities
are structured for a daycare environment.
The daycare is open to all children two years and up. The children in my
care range from 2-4 years of age. I am open to taking any child who is an
appropriate fit for the daycare. This includes children with language delays.
We are indoors most of the time. We do have the children go out in the
backyard from 10:00-10:45AM and from 2:00-2:45 PM. The backyard is
52'X30'. There are bikes, trikes, scooters, sensory tables, a soccer net, a ball
and a play structure for the children to play on. I have specifically chosen
these times as their outside playtime. My neighbors are at work and the kids
do not disturb anyone. Other neighbors have noted that they cannot even
hear the children in the backyard.

The rest of the time the children are in the house. The house is a safe place
for the children. They are supervised at all times. They play in designated
rooms with attached bathrooms. They use the main house to play in when it
is raining, it is too hot, or for any spacious activities I have planned for them.
I am planning on adding my living/family or dining room as another fun
place for them to play in.
I will have someone else help me with the extra kids. I plan to break them
into two groups so that they are easy to manage. Again, they will be
supervised at all times. That someone can be my mother or an hourly paid
person who loves kids. My mother will be living with me. If it is someone
else, she/he will drive to my home and park on my driveway.
My business is completely home based. No one is affected by my daycare.
My house is located at the end of a cul de sac. The 1 eft side of my house
faces Fallon Road and overlooks a greenway.
There haven't been any transportation issues this y-lar. Parents are dropping
or picking off at times when the neighbors are at work. The parents park in
my driveway for a few minutes to pick up/drop off their children. There is
also street parking avai table in front of my home. They come on their own at
staggered times.
Other parents have grandparents walk their childrer. to my home. I have 3-5
children walk to my home. I am providing daycare primarily to the children
who live in the neighborhood. If I were to get my large daycare license, I
intend to implement a policy that requires parents to drop their children off
at staggered times.
My home is not located on any hazardous waste and substance site. It is in a
residential neighborhood. I am providing services to the families in my
neighborhood.
I have asked my neighbors if they have any concerns. They have all
responded in the negative. They are fine with me getting a large daycare
license.
I have attached a copy of my daycare's schedule
