This annual coSt is expected to be partially offset by the reduction in payments to Staff for personal vehicle mileage . reimbursement. Maintenance will be by contract to local vehicle dealers and service facilities. DESCRIPTION: On November 5, 2002, City Council authorized Staff to solicit bids for the purchase of one City pool vehicle. The Fiscal Year 2002-2003 budget identified the need for transportation for City-related work was identified in addition to the one and one-half Staff pool cars currently available. The half-time pool car is shared with Alameda County Fire Prevention. In an effort to respect the environment and air quality, the City Council accepted Staff's recommendation that this new pool car be a hybrid gasoline-electric vehicle manufactured by Honda or Toyota. The bid COPIES TO: Bidders ITEM NO. ~ g:hmiscprojhhybrid vehicle\agstaward specifications subsequently distributed to Honda and Toyota dealerships within Dublin (2) and nearby cities (7) provided for a 1% discount to Dublin businesses for the purpose of comparing total cost for bid award. This 1% reduction for local businesses represents the 1% in sales tax that will be returned to Dublin for a sale in Dublin. Five bids were received, the results of which are shown in the Financial section of this Report, with the low bid of $21,310.77 submitted by Toyota Walnut Creek. Staff recommends that the City Council award the Purchase Order in the amount of $21,310.77 to the low bidder, Toyota Walnut Creek.
