Establish an Economic Development Committee (Ad-Hoc), and Accept the Mayor's Appointments Prepared By: Linda Maurer, Economic Development Director EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: On October 6, 2009, the City Council adopted Resolution 147-09 creating an ad-hoc Economic Development Committee to assist in the implementation of the 2009-2010 Goals and Objectives for Economic Development. This item recommends the establishment of a new ad-hoc Economic Development Committee to assist in the implementation of the 2010-2011 Economic Development Goals and Objectives and to accept the Mayor's appointments of Mayor Sbranti and Councilmember Biddle. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None at this time. RECOMMENDATION: That the City Council Adopt a Resolution Establishing an Ad-Hoc Committee for Economic Development and accept the Mayor's appointments. ~upminea tsy Economic Development Director nager ~ Page 1 of 2 ITEM NO. J~. DESCRIPTION: The City Council established the creation of several new City Council committees in 2009. One of those committees was the establishment of an Economic Development Committee. The role of this ad-hoc committee was to provide policy guidance and direction to staff regarding the implementation of the 2009-2010 Goals and Objectives for Economic Development. Mayor Sbranti and Councilmember Biddle served on that Committee. With the conclusion of the 2009-2010 Fiscal Year, the ad-hoc Committee has completed its assignment. To assist in its work with Objectives relating to Economic Development, Staff is recommend establish a new ad-hoc committee for Economic Development. Th~ would be to provide policy guidance and direction to Staff regarding ~ Council-adopted Economic Development Goals and Objectives for Mayor Sbranti is again recommending the appointment of himself and serve on this Committee. XX-10 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN ~~~~*~~~~ ESTABLISHING AN AD-HOC COMMITTEE FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND ACCEPTING THE MAYOR'S APPOINTMENTS WHEREAS, at the October 6, 2009 City Council meeting, the City Council adopted Resolution 147-09, establishing City Council ad-hoc committees for Economic Development, Communications, Environmental Programs, Community Development Block Grant Programs, as well as a standing committee titled Community and CDBG Grants Committee; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the ad-hoc Economic Development Committee was to provide policy guidance and direction to Staff regarding the implementation of the City Council's Fiscal Year 2009-2010 Economic Development Goals and Objectives. The Committee served as a recommendation body to the full City Council on matters relating to these G&Os; and WHEREAS, the work conducted by the Economic Development Committee concluded with the end of the Fiscal Year; and WHEREAS, Staff recommends that the City Council establish a new ad-hoc Economic Development Committee to assist with the implementation of the Fiscal Year 2010-2011 Economic Development Goals and Objectives; and WHEREAS, the City Council agreed with the recommendation of the Mayor regarding the appointment of Mayor Sbranti and Councilmember Biddle to serve on this Committee. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby establish an ad-hoc committee for Economic Development and accept the Mayor's appointments.
