CITY OF DUBLIN
PARKS AND COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION
MINUTES OF: May 19, 2008
The May 19, 2008 meeting of the Parks & Community Services Commission was called to order at 7:09
p.m. at the Dublin Civic Center, Dublin, California, by Chair Flores.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Chair Flores led the Pledge of Allegiance.

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
3.1 BRIEF INFORMATIONAL ONLY REPORTS FROM SENIOR CENTER AND YOUTH
ADVISORY COMMITTEES
Senior Center Advisory Committee
Ms. Diane Bonetti reported on the success of the following events:
• Mother's Day Luncheon on May 8, 2008
• Come to L.I.F.E. Program on May 17, 2008
• Sunday Center Stage Matinee in on May 18, 2008
She further reported on the following upcoming proposed events:
• Movie Friday and Sunday Center Stage Matinee in June 2008
• Father's Day Luncheon in June 2008
• Car show in September 2008
She reported that the sign chosen by the Committee to better identify the Senior Center was approved at the May
6, 2008 City Council meeting.
Cm. Jones commended Staff on advertising venues for the Come to L.I.F.E. Program.
Youth Advisorv Committee
Cm. Lorenzo reported that the Committee implemented sub-committees whereby teens could more freely and
openly discuss their thoughts and ideas for teen events and programs for the City.
3.2 PUBLIC COMMENTS - None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES - APRIL 21, 2008
On a motion by Cm. Muetterties, seconded by Cm. Lorenzo, and by a vote of 3-0-1 with Cm. Jones abstaining
due to his absence during the April 21, 2008 meeting, and with Cms. Elias and Guarienti absent, the
Commission voted to approve the minutes of Apri121, 2008.

NEW BUSINESS
8.1 2008 DAY ON THE GLEN FESTIVAL PLAN
Ms. Lorri Polon, Recreation Coordinator, presented the specifics of the item as outlined in the Staff Report.
The Commission expressed delight with the proposed event components.
8.2 2008 SUMMER SPECIAL EVENT PREVIEW
Ms. Lorri Polon, Recreation Coordinator, along with Mr. Paul McCreary, Parks & Community Services
Manager, presented the specifics of the item as outlined in the Staff Report.
The Commission was pleased with the proposed components of the upcoming summer events.
8.3 ONLINE REGISTRATION FIVE-YEAR SUMMARY
Mr. Paul McCreary, Parks & Community Services Manager, presented the specifics of the item as outlined in
the Staff Report.
Chair Flores asked if Staff could send emails advertising upcoming classes to customers who may have taken
similar classes in the past. Mr. McCreary and Ms. Diane Lowart, Parks & Community Services Director,
explained that our registration system has the functionality to create target databases for emailing and mailing
information about upcoming classes.

COMMISSIONERS AND/OR STAFF
Cm. Lorenzo reported that she attended Dub Town Jam and Monday Fun Day.
Ms. Diane Lowart reported on the status of the City's newest parks: Bray Commons, Devany Square, and
Piazza Sonento. She stated that a double park dedication would be held for Devany Square and Piazza
Sorrento. She further reported that Shannon Center construction is moving along and is scheduled for
completion in December 2008.
Mr. Paul McCreary reported on the status of the Needs Assessment Survey.
