An analysis was done to see if respondents who said they had not participated in the activities listed
in Quesrion 8 because of an inconvenient location were pasricipating at another public facility. As
shown below, some of these respondents had participated in a paxks and recreation activity at
another public facility, but at very low levels. None of these respondents used a public park ox
recreation facility even a dozen times in the last month.

Spending preferences were further investigated by respondent subgroup. Whexe cells are shaded
grey there was a statistically significant diffexence between subgroups (p<.05). More xesidents with a
child 17 ox younger in the household xeported the City should spend more on recrearion and spoxts
programs and recxeation facility development than residents who did not have a child 17 ox younger
in the household. No differences in spending prefexences were detected for homes with an adult age
65 or oldex and those without.

More younger xesidents (age 18 to 34) felt that the City should spend more on open space
preseroation than those residents 35 and older. More residents on the eastern side of Dublin wanted
the City to spend less on recxearion and sports programs than on the western side. A propoxrion of
residents on the western side of Dublin wanted the City to spend more on historical pxeservarion
and education and paxk maintenance than on the eastern side. When asked about spending on public
infortnarion and community with residents, more residents on the eastern side said to spend more
than those on the western side of Dublin.
