HERITAGE AND CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION
Draft Minutes
January 14, 2010
The January 14, 2010 meeting of the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission was called to order at 7:00
p.m. at the Dublin Civic Center, Dublin, California, by Chair Carr.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Chair Carr led the Pledge of Allegiance.
ROLL CALL
Commissioners (Cm.) Present: Carr, Mack, Minniear, Nuckols, Tutino, Vonheeder-Leopold
Commissioners Absent Halket
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS - None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
On a motion by Cm. Vonheeder-Leopold, seconded by Cm. Mack, and by a vote of 6-0-0, with Vice
Chair Halket absent, the Commission voted to approve the minutes of December 10, 2009, as presented.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS - None
PUBLIC HEARING - None
UNFINISHED BUSINESS - None
NEW BUSINESS
8.1 ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Mr. John Hartnett, Heritage and Cultural Arts Manager, presented the specifics of the item as outlined in
the Staff Report.
Chair Carr opened the floor to nominations for Chairperson.
Cm. Mack nominated Cm. Minniear and Cm. Vonheeder-Leopold seconded the nomination.
Cm. Minniear nominated Chair Carr and Cm. Nuckols seconded the nomination.
With four votes received for Cm. Minniear and two votes received for Chair Carr (with Vice Chair Halket
absent), Cm. Minniear was elected to serve as Chairperson.
Chair Carr opened the floor to nominations for Vice Chairperson.
Cm. Minniear nominated Cm. Mack and Cm. Vonheeder-Leopold seconded the nomination.
Cm. Carr nominated Cm. Nuckols and Cm. Mack seconded the nomination.

With four votes received for Cm. Nuckols and two votes received for Cm. Mack (with Vice Chair Halket
absent), Cm. Nuckols was elected to serve as Vice Chairperson.
8.2 COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS
Mr. John Hartnett, Heritage and Cultural Arts Manager, presented the specifics of the item as outlined in
the Staff Report.
Chair Minniear asked if the current Committee Appointees would like to retain their positions, and each
Committee Appointee said yes.
On a motion by Cm. Vonheeder-Leopold, seconded by Cm. Mack, and by a vote of 6-0-0 with Cm.
Halket absent, the Commission voted in favor of retaining the current Committee Appointments.
8.3 FALL 2009 QiJARTERLY REPORT
Mr. John Hartnett, Heritage and Cultural Arts Manager, presented the specifics of the item as outlined in
the Staff Report.
The Commission received the report.
9.1 OTHER BUSINESS
Cm. Vonheeder-Leopold reported on a book signing in which she participated, and informed that the
Alameda County Arts Commission is currently accepting grant applications.
Chair Minniear reported on the progress of the Oral History project.
Cm. Carr reported that the Dublin/San Ramon Women's Club has received approval to pay for the
Heritage Center's third grade Dublin history workbooks.
Cm. Mack informed the Commission of the "Black History is American History" celebration on February
6, 2010 at Valley Christian Church.
Mr. Hartnett informed the Commission of upcoming events and the cancellation of the February 11, 2010
Commission meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 734 p.m.
