Home My WebLink AboutReso 129-97 DenyGPAStudy/Shurga RESOLUTION NO. 129 - 97 A RESOLUTION OF ~ CITY COUNCIL OF ~ CITY OF DUBLIN DENYING THE INITIATION OF THE SHURGARD GENERAL PLAN AMENDMENT AND SPECIFIC PLAN AMENDMENT STUDY WHEREAS, a General Plan Amendment and Specific Plan Amendment request has been made by Bruce Jordan on behalf of Shurgard Storage Centers for a 81,686 square foot storage center and retail facility at the northwest comer of San Rarnon Road and Amador Valley Boulevard. The General Plan land use designation proposed for the site is Retail/Office with a Floor Area Ratio of.738 and a Specific Plan Amendment to Area 3 of the San Ramon Road Specific Plan to allow self storage as a permitted use; and WHEREAS, Section 65358 (a) of the State of California Government Code states that an amendment to a general plan shah be in a manner specified by the legislative body; and WHEREAS, Section 65453 of the State of California Government Code states that an amendment to a specific plan shall be in the same manner as a general plan; and WItEREAS, the initiation request has been reviewed in accordance with the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and was found to be Categorically Exempt under Section 15306, Class 6 of the State CEQA Guidelines; and Wlt-EREAS, the City Council did hear and consider all said reports, recommendations and testimony hereinabove set forth on this issue; and WltEREAS, this parcel is an excellent retail site and should be devoted to retail uses as intended by the General Plan and Specific Plan; and WHEREAS, the sufficient self storage space exists in the City of Dublin and in nearby cities; and WHEREAS, it is not in the best interests of the City of Dublin to initiate a General Plan Amendment and Specific Plan Amendment Study at this time. NOW, TItEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby deny the initiation of the Shurgard General Plan Amendment and Specific Plan Amendment Study.
