interested in the art that zs displayed throughout the city. I wauld like to have input into the decisions that are
inade and be privy to the planning associated with the Heritage Center and Culhiral aats in the city of Dublin.
In ~vhat oi•ganizations are yon cn~•i•ently a membey~?:
Otl~er:
What expex~ience do you have serving on advisory committees, task forces, boaz•ds or commissions?: .
I've seived a one year term on the ATameda County Civil Grand Jury iri the past. I was also a member of ~he
City of Dublin aversized vehicle ordinance committee. Dux~ing the time I was a student at CSUEastbay I was
a shident representative foi the parking conmuttee.
Wiaat education; traii~ing or experience do you have in cultural arts oi• hea•itage?: I have no formal .
education in cultural arts or lierifage: I've beeri a resident of Dublin since 1966 and grew up in this city. I do
have a Bachelor's Degree_which required tHe taking and passirig of several classes wh'icli studied art, cultures
of other counh7es asid ancient civilizations.
I,ist tl~e a~•tist~c, eultu~•aI, and/or historic ac#ivities in tivhich you have participated; particulai~ly within
the City of Dublin.: I.Iiave nof participated in any artistic or cultural activities uniess attendix~g cornmwuty

Wliat Icnowlec~ge do you have of the Dubliia Heratage Center?: T live a few blocks fram the new park and

deviated siightly from the original plar~. I also know that the City of Dublin has events and activities at the
Heritage Cenfei- thi~oughout tlie year tliat are community or~ex~tated and edticatianal. Tlie preservation of the
cemeteiy and surroui2ding building is an iii~portant part of Dublin history and should be properly rnaintained
for the enjoyment of the com~iitu~ity.

gdotiv do you feel abant m~ki~g a decisiou for ti~e overa~l good of #I~e commi~nity that Hnay be
u~ipopular ~vith neighboi~s or organizatioiis?: Or~ ocoasion decisions that_are not popular are made in ordez•
to benefit the comn~iunity at large. Qccasionaliy neighbors may complain Vvl~en a park is constructed in their
neighborhood because tliey are afiaid of traffic or noise. Sometunes a comriiunity can be upset when retail
shoppiiig or a large office biulding is being planned in that ~ea. In making unpopular decisions the city must
cans'ider all.factors incluc~ing beneft ta the coinmunity; revenue and the gezierat overail plan. While these
decisioris may be a benefit not eveiyone will agree a~id it is nornlal to have disagreement ox- dissension
regarding some decisions,it is the iiature of conuniulity planning anci urban growth.I unders~and~that
uupopular decision may ~iave to be made, but I also understand that listenirig to~the connmunity, providing
adequate feedback to interested and effected parties a~~e all palt af any committee and must be handled
carefully. I guess I'm saying that I do not have a problem with making unpopnlar decisions as long as it is
done with consideration.
Wl~at is the most impoi•taut contribiition you ffeel you can make as a member af #he H[e~•itage &
C~ilturai Arts Commission?: I'm a long time resident of Duhlin and as such, I've seen the city grow fi•oin a
smali community with few businesses and seivices to a well planned city with atnenities that make it an
example of thoughtful city planning. I tl~ink I cari give the perspective of a long Eirne reszdezrt who is
concerned~with Dublin's continued growth and where it is heading. I personally enjoy art and would love to
be a part of events and platming for the City of Dublin's Heritage Center and Cultural Ai~ts Commission.
