The City Council will present a proclamation designating the month of May as Older Americans
Month.

WHEIZEAS, The Ciiy of Dublin is a community in which approximately 5,524 older adult citizens make .
thetr home; and '
WHERF,AS, Older Adults in the City of Dublin are the roots from which our community grows, who bestow
gifts of w.isdom and insight upon younger generations, and strengthen the bonds between neighbors .to ~
creafe a better place to Iive; and
WHEREAS, Our society can be enhanced by older adults aging peacefully in their communities; and
WHERF.AS, The older adults in the City of Dublin should be commended for their role in creating and
bolstering the fiber of our cornmunity and nation; and
WHEREAS, Our community can provide recognition and respect by enriching the quality of life for older
Americans by: Increasing opporiunities to remain in their communities as actiUe and engaged citizens, by
providing seruices, technologies; and support systems that allow seniors to foster and maintain connections
within the community, and by emphasizing the value of elders by publically recognizing their contributions
to the diversity, strength, and unity of our community.
~~'E ~~' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Dubiin City Council, do hereby proclaim May 2011
i` a; ;j to be Older Americans Month. We urge euery citizen to take time this month to honor our older adults and
W';; the professionals, family.members, and volunteers who care for them.
