FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Amount budgeted for FY1988-89: $52,800.00 Low bid received: $50,915.76 DESCRIPTION: On August 8, 1988, the City Council authorized Staff to advertise for bids for the City street sweeping service for the next two years. This contract includes twice monthly sweeping of residential streets, weekly sweeping of commercial streets, and pick-up of trash from the street- side trash receptacles which are located primarily at bus stops and along the San Ramon Road bike path. Quantities utilized for bidding purposes were based on the number of existing curb miles to be swept during a normal year, allowing for four extra weeks of residential sweeping during the heavy leaf fall season. The number of hours of emergency callout service was likewise estimated, as was the number of receptacle pickups. Staff would expect the actual numbers to be close to the estimated amounts, but some variation may occur due to weather, traffic, and other circumstances. The low bid was received from Marc Sweeping Service dba American Environmental Industries and is in the amount of $50,915.76. Staff has checked with references provided and has determined that the type of equipment to be used and method proposed for dealing with mechanical breakdowns are satisfactory. Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the resolution awarding the contract for street sweeping services to American Environmental Industries. ~ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~ ITEM N0. ~m COPIES T0: Bidders 3 ---~ ~ ) .~ ~ _ _. _--- RESOLUTION N0.1'L3 -88 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN AWARDING CONTRACT FOR STREET SWEEPING AND LITTER PICKUP SERVICES TO MARC SWEEPING SERVICE DBA AMERICAN ENVIRONMENTAL INDUSTRIES WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did, on September 2, 1988, publicly open, examine, and declare all sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Specifications for the Contract for Street Sweeping and Litter Pickup Services, authorized by the City Council on August 8, 1988, which Plans, Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description of said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings under the request for bids; and WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the Public Works Director, who has recommended that the bid hereinafter mentioned is the lowest and best bid for doing said work.
