FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
Cost of painting the curbs red is estimated at $50.
DESCRIPTION: The Brighton Drive / Callan Street intersection is a residential
intersection controlled by 3-way stop signs. Dublin High School is located on the north side of Brighton
Drive, and single-family homes front on the south side. The entrance to the high school parking lot is
approximately 100 feet east of Callan Street. There are yellow school crosswalks across all three legs of
the intersection.
The sight distance for approaching traffic to the intersection is adequate if no vehicles are parked at this
T-intersection. Visibility would be improved by prohibiting parking on Brighton Drive to the west and east
of Callan Street and also on westerly and easterly curbline of Callan street at Brighton Drive. The resident
at 7114 Brighton Drive (SW comer) will still have one on-street parking space.
Red curb has already been installed, possibly at the time the Brighton Drive stop signs were approved;
however, this area was never included in the City' s Traffic Code.
Staff recommends that the City Council conduct a public hearing, deliberate, and adopt the Resolution
approving No Parking Zones at this intersection. The adjacent residents have been notified of this public
hearing and the action proposed to be taken. _
