HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 136-11 Traffic Code AmendedRESOLUTION NO. 136 -11 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN ****~~*~* AMENDING THE DUBLIN TRAFFIC CODE DESIGNATING THE LOCKHART STREET/PALERMO WAY INTERSECTION AS STOP-CONTROLLED ON ALL APPROACHES WHEREAS, Lockhart Street is currently uncontrolled at the Fallon Sports Park driveway; and WHEREAS, Palermo Way is under construction and will intersect Lockhart Street opposite the Fallon Sports Park driveway; and WHEREAS, stop control already exists for the Fallon Sports Park driveway, and stop control is planned for Palermo Way as part of the roadway construction, which will be accepted by the City following completion; and WHEREAS, Kolb Elementary School, located on Palermo Way west of Lockhart Street, is scheduled to open in August 2011 for the 2011-2012 school year; and WHEREAS, land development is not yet completed surrounding the school nor has the school opened yet; therefore, a traffic study cannot be conducted to determine whether all-way stop-control is warranted; and WHEREAS, the need to facilitate pedestrians and bicyclists crossing Lockhart Street at Palermo Way justifies the implementation of stop-control on Lockhart Street; and WHEREAS, Section 6.04.070 of the Dublin Municipal Code states that City Council approval is required for all stop signs which do not meet adopted warrants. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Dublin hereby adopts the following regulation in the interest of public safety: Section 1: The following language shall be added to Section 6.16.010 ("Stop Intersections: Stop Mandatory on All Approaches") of the City of Dublin Traffic Code: Lockhart Street and Palermo Way.
