HERITAGE AND CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION

The May 12, 2011 meeting of the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission was called to order at 7:04 p.m.
at the Dublin Civic Center, Dublin, California, by Chair Tutino.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Chair Tutino led the Pledge of Allegiance.
ROLL CALL
Commissioners (Cm.) Present: Halket, Hernandez, Tutino, Vanderpool
Commissioners Absent: Carr, King, Minniear
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS - None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES - March 10, 2011
On a motion by Vice Chair Halket, seconded by Cm. Vanderpool, and by a vote of 4-0-0, the Commission
voted to approve the March 10, 2011 minutes as presented.

NEW BUSINESS
8.1 KOLB HOUSE-ADOPT A ROOM PROGRAM
Ms. Elizabeth Isles, Heritage Center Director, presented the specifics of the item as outlined in the Staff
Report.
The Commission commended Staff on the program.
Vice Chair Halket asked if Staff is in need of period pieces for the Kolb House. Ms. Isles stated that the
house came fully furnished with the original furnishings.
Chair Tutino asked if additional volunteers are need for the program. Ms. Isles stated that additional
volunteers are welcomed to participate in the program.
Chair Tutino asked how long the current team of volunteers would be in place. Ms. Isles explained that
the current team of volunteers would be in place through April 2011, at which time openings for new or
additional volunteers would be promoted.
Chair Tutino asked about the plans for seasonal decorations for the house. Ms. Isles stated that there are
plans to decorate the house in the appropriate historical fashions.

8.2 WINTER/SPRING 2011 SEASONAL REPORT
Mr. John Hartnett, Heritage and Cultural Arts Manager, presented the specifics of the item as outlined in
the Staff Report.
Chair Tutino asked about the reason for the increase in enrollment from the 2011 winter/spring quarter.
Mr. Hartnett stated that the reason could be due to the popularity of certain classes.

AND/OR STAFF AND REPORTS BY COMMISSION RELATED TO MEETINGS
ATTENDED AT CITY EXPENSE (AB1234).
Cm. Vanderpool reported that she attended the Intergenerational Car Show that was held on April 23,
2011.
Vice Chair Tutino asked about the promotional efforts taking place for the Grand Opening for the
Heritage Park & Museums. Mr. Hartnett explained that all of the standard promotional efforts would be
conducted and outlined the overall strategy.
