DESCRIPTION: The Heritage and Cultural Arts Division implements a variety of
quality cultural arts programs that provide recreational and artistic experiences for the community. This
goal is accomplished by providing a number of cultural program offerings in the areas of arts and crafts,
visual arts, music, dance and performing arts. Following is a summary of the various programs conducted
during summer 2011.
CULTURAL ARTS CLASSES:
Cultural arts classes are intended to serve customers of all ages and cover a wide range of arts activities
such as theatre and dance camps/classes, classes in singing, guitar, dance exercise and movement,
drawing, painting, children's art education and others. Cultural arts classes provide an opportunity for
participants to attempt new experiences, advance current artistic skills, as well as provide a social setting
for meeting new people and sharing cultural arts experiences with friends and family members. Arts
classes are taught by contracted specialty instructors. A majority of classes are taught in eight-week
sessions but some are more or less than eight weeks and others are offered as one-time workshops.
A total of 476 participants registered for Cultural Arts Classes during summer 2011, which was an
increase of 29% over summer 2010. The cancellation rate for classes was 3% higher than in 2010 but the
average registration per class increased from last year from 8.22 to 10.82 participants per class. In terms
of revenue, the 2011 summer classes generated $60,858 which was considerably higher than the 2010
figure of $46,305. Popular classes included; All 4 Dance Camp, Into the Woods Drama Camp, Kinder
Drama Camp, Ballet, Hip Hop and Irish Dance classes, art classes by Young Rembrandts and other visual
art instructors.

Upcoming Fall Classes (New)
Ceramic Studio Program: As part of the Heritage Park and Museums project, a new Ceramics Studio
and Art Room was included. The room will serve both youth and adult art enthusiasts. A Kiln has been
installed onsite, so that the City can offer ceramics programs where students can design and fire their own
clay art pieces. Several classes are scheduled in the fall for both youth and adults.
Looking Glass Land: This youth stage production is an award winning adaptation which takes Lewis
Carroll's original "Through the Looking Glass" and literally runs with it. The theatre class is for
beginners to experienced performers from ages 8 to 18 years.
Upcoming Events
Saturday Events at the Heritage Park & Museums: This fall, a new series of Saturday Events will
take place every month at the Heritage Park & Museums. The events are varied and include the

show for youth ideal for ages 6-10 years.
• Holiday Tea - Saturday, December 3 - annual Holiday Tea for all ages.
• Holiday Winter Market - Saturday, December 3 - an afternoon of holiday activities for the
whole family.
Winter Concert Series - November: The fourth annual "Hometown Heroes" Celebration honoring our
veterans will be held on Sunday, November 6th at the Dublin Senior Center. Following the event, there
will be a concert by a military band for the public's entertainment. The event is free and refreshments

Winter Concert Series - December: Bay Bells is back again by popular demand and will offer a holiday
concert at the Dublin Senior Center on Sunday, December 11th. The concert will be approximately one-
