FINANCIAL STATII~IENT :$117,500 in funding is available through
this program
DESCRIPTION The Lucky/A's Baseball Fields program is a
special promotion supported by Lucky Stores and administered by
the Oakland A's, which will construct or rehabilitate a youth
baseball field in a different East Bay community each year. Up
to $117,500 will be awarded to the community selected for
development of the facility. The proqram is open to any city,
county government or special district in Alameda or Contra Costa
County.
Attached in Exhibit A is a completed application for funding
through this program. The project identified in the application
is the renovation of the Dublin High School baseball fields.
This project is currently included in the 1988-93 Capital
Improvement Program and is scheduled for funding in Fiscal Year
1990-91. Should the grant be awarded to the City of Dublin, the
net cost to the City for the renovation of the baseball fields
would be reduced from $284,095 to $166,595.
Therefore it is the recommendation of Staff that the City Council
adopt the resolution attached in Exhibit B approving the
application for grant funds for the Lucky/A's Youth Baseball
Fields program.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF WORK PROPOSED:
The project provides for the renovation of two (2), 90-foot baseball fields. Work
includes grading, irrigation repair/replacement, turf replacement, infield upgrade,
bleachers and landscaping.

have enCered into a Joint Use/Development Agreement whereby the City agrees to make
improvements on school property to benefit both the school and the community. Any
permanent improvements or equipment installed on school property shall remain the
property of the City. Additionally the City will assume the responsibility for
maintenance of improved facilities. (Copy of agreement attached)

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN

APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR GRANT FUNDS
FOR THE LUCKY/A'S YOUTH BASEBALL FIELDS PROGRANi
WHEREAS, Lucky Stores
Company have joined together
Fields program; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of
canstruct or rehabilitate

to fund the Lucky/A's Youth Baseball
the program is to provide funding to
youth baseball fields in East Bay
WHEREAS, The City of Dublin in cooperation with the Dublin
Unified School District and Dublin Little League, have identified
the need to rehabilitate baseball fields at Dublin High Schaol;
and
WHEREAS the rehabilitation of these fields will help meet the
increasing demand for additional playing fields within the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Dublin HEREBY:
1. Approves the filing of an application for the Lucky/A's
Youth Baseball Fields program for the Dublin High School Fields
Renovation; and
2. Certifies that said applicant understands the assurances
and certification in the application form; and
3. Certifies that said applicant has or will have adequate
funds to operate and maintain the project; and
4. Appoints the City Manager as agent of the City of Dublin
to conduct all negotiations and execute and submit all documents
which may be necessary for the completion of the aforementioned
project.
