Review Preliminary Plans Provide Input as Appropriate Authorize Staff to Proceed RECOMMENDATION FINANCIAL STATEMENT Not Yet Determined DESCRIPTION The Dublin Senior Center renovation is nearing completion. On April 28, 1988 the Dublin Senior Center Advisory Committee met and brainstormed ideas for a Dedication Ceremony. Following are the ideas from that session: Reception with brief speeches by Mayor Jeffery, Senator Lockyer, Supervisor Campbell, Assemblyman Bill Baker, and Barbara Hellmuth, Area Agency on Aging Ribbon Cutting Hors d'oeuvres/Punch Cake/Coffee Prizes for Oldest Person and Longest Married Prizes to be Raffled (Trips, Dinners, etc. which Committee Members will solicit) Calendar of Events to be Distributed Quiet Background Music (Recorded) The Committee has come up with the following recommendations: Date: Time: Program: Publicity: Saturday, July 16, 1988 1 :30-5:00p.m. To be finalized by Subcommittee - Invitations to Dignitaries - Published on Front Page of Silver Streaks Newsletter - Invitations to Senior Clubs, Other Senior Centers, and Clubs with Senior Members - Suggestion: Contact AARP and Purchase Mailing List of Dublin Residents Over 50 Years of Age. Include Announcement in Senior Center Calendar. The Park and Recreation Commission considered the recommendations of the Senior Center Advisory Committee at their meeting of May 10, 1 988. The Commission was agreeable with the preliminary plans made to date. Additionally the Commission suggested that we distribute a wish list with items that are needed for the Center to those in attendance. One item that is needed for the Cdnter is a flag. It was suggested that we ask Senator Lockyer or Assemblyman Baker if they could secure one for us. It is the recommendation of staff that the City Council take the following action: 1.
