The Annual Dublin Lions Club St. Patrick's Day Parade will be held on Saturday, March 17,
2012. As in past years, the Dublin City Council participates in the parade. Because the City is
celebrating the "All-America City" win, as well as the 30th Anniversary in 2012, Staff is
proposing two decorated cable cars (Attachment 1) for the parade. The first cable car will be for
the current City Council and will be decorated for the "All-America City" honor. The second
cable car, which will follow right behind the City Council's car, will celebrate the City's 30th
Anniversary. Staff recommends inviting past City Council members to ride in this cable car to
celebrate the "30 Years of Leadership in Dublin."

A modest budget is available for the parade entry and for small item giveaways to the crowds
along the parade route. Due to liability issues with the Lions Club's insurance company, the
tossing of giveaway items into the crowd is not permitted; however, handing out giveaway items
is permissible. In the past, all City Council parade vehicles have been prepared the day of the
parade by City Staff.
Staff is seeking the City Council's direction on this recommendation to formalize the City's entry
for the 2012 St. Patrick's Day Parade.
