HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 014-03 Ala Co Coaltn Prop50$ RESOLUTION NO. 14 - 03 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN SUPPORTING LEGISLATION AND ACTIVITIES OF THE ALAMEDA COUNTY COALITION TO ALLOCATE PROPOSITION 50 FUNDING FOR THE CITY OF DUBLIN'S STORM WATER QUALITY TREATMENT PROJECT WHEREAS, the California electorate at the General Election held on November 5, 2002, approved State Proposition 50, also called the Water Quality, Supply and Safe Drinking Water Projects, Coastal Wetlands Purchase and Protection Bond Initiative, authorizing $3.44 billion for water- and parks- related programs in California; and WHEREAS, a coalition of northern and coastal California counties, cities and special districts has been formed to identify and prioritize water-related funding needs; and WHEREAS, the Coalition is organized into regions by county to rank local projects for potential State Water Bond grant monies from Proposition 50; and WHEREAS, several agencies, including Alameda County Flood Control District, Zone 7, EBMUD and several cities are competing for funds in the Alameda County region; and WHEREAS, the City of Dublin is proposing a project under the non-point storm water quality category of the initiative to install a storm water treatment facility to drain into the Alamo Canal; and WHEREAS, Zone 7's projects being proposed for funding under Proposition 50 will benefit the City of Dublin, which projects will include the Cope Lake Recycled Water Storage and Flood Detention, b) Wellhead Demineralization for Municipal Wells; and c) Upper Alameda Creek Watershed Plan; and WHEREAS, after finalizing the list of projects, the Coalition will then work with the State Legislature to enact legislation prioritizing the Coalition's project list; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin supports legislation and the activities of the Alameda County Coalition to allocate Proposition 50 funding for the City of Dublin's storm water quality treatment project and for Zone 7's projects. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 4th day of February, 2003.
