MINUTES OFDECEMBER 7, 2011:
CALL TO ORDER
The December 7, 2411 special meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:Q1 p.m.
by Chairperson Vasquez.

CM Vasquez told the Conunrttee that she met with the Dublin Library staff to see if they are interested in
presenting information on the negative aspects of texting and driving. CM Vasquez recommended that
Library Staff could be invited to do a presentation at a Youth Advisory Committee meeting. The
Committee suggested that we film her presentation about the negatives of texting and driving, alld the
presentation could be used in a video bulletin shown at Dublin I-Iigh School. CM Vasquez stated she
would follow up and report back at the next u~eeting. GM Vasquez also told the coulmittee that there
wasn't going to be a Texting and Driving Educational Subcommittee meeting in the month of December
because of the holidays.
CM Castro of tl~e Fundraising Subcommittee stated that they plan to have a meeting during winter break
to discuss fixture fundraising events. One idea that the Subcommittee has come up with is possibly having
a litndraiscr at Rockin' Jump, a facility that offers various activities that i-~clude the rise of trampolines.
CM Castro will follow up and report back at the next meeting.
OTHER B US1'NESS
Staff Member Siu requested the Committee establish dates for scheduling teen events. for the cui7ent
school year. A Battle of the Bands concert was scheduled in November but was canceled due to lack of
bands for the event. After discussion with the Committee it was decided that March 2, 2012 would be a
good date. Staff Member Siu also asked Committee Members for possible dates for an outdoor concert.
Committee Members suggested Iv1ay 12, 2012 would be a good day to schedule this type of an event.
Another event that the Committee suggested having was a comedy improv show in collaboration with
Dublin High School. The Committee suggested March 16, 2412 as a possible date for this event. Staff
Member Siu will update Committee Members at the next meeting regarding teen events.

Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:41 p.m. by Chairperson Vasquez.
