At the April 24q-,-1~,- meeting, the~ity-Cetrnqil introduced an ordinance which repealed a two-hour parking zone on Golden Gate Drive and adopted a resolution which established a modified two-hour parking zone (to become effective on the effective date of the ordinance). Staff received the request to modify the two-hour parking zone from SmithKline Bioscience Labs, 6511 Golden Gate Drive. The businesses in Gateway Park, just to the south of the lab, still require a two-hour zone for their customers: so the proposed modification would eliminate the two-hour parking zone at part of the lab's frontage but leave the two-hour parking zone at Gateway Park. Testimony presented by Dr. Aggarwal of SmithKline Bioscience Labs at the April 24th meeting indicated that the lab was in agreement with the proposal. This limited parking zone was originally adopted by the County by ordinance and must therefore be repealed by ordinance. The City's Traffic Ordinance, adopted in 1987, now allows limited parking zones to be adopted by resolution. Staff recommends than the City Council conduct a public hearing, waive the ~reading, and adopt the ordinance repealing the t~o-hour parking zone at the southerly end of Golden Gate Drive.
