Mechanical building and outdoor storage area floor plan RECOMMENDATION: Authorize Staff to advertise Contract 2000-03 for bids. FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Budget for Improvements: $198,925 Preliminary Engineer's Estimate: $198,660 DESCRIPTION: The 1998-2003 Capital Improvement Program includes the Dublin Swim Center Mechanical Building Renovation Project. This project provides for the installation of new pool heaters, expansion of the mechanical building and outdoor storage area, and painting of the exterior of the Swim Center. Plans and specifications have been prepared for the project and the project is ready to be advertised for bids. In November 1997, the City Council approved funds to complete a study of the Swim Center and develop a Master Plan for improvements. The Swim Center Master Plan, which was approved by the City Council in April 1998, identified the installation of new pool heaters and expansion of the mechanical building and storage as high priorities. The FY 1999-2000 Budget includes fundS for this project. Staff has worked with the architectural firm of Arch Pac, Inc., to develop the plans and specifications for the project. A copy of the site plan and new floor plan is attached. The plans and technical specifications have been reviewed and approved by the City's Public Works and Building Departments. The new building will provide an additional 700 square feet of covered storage space for program supplies and chemicals. The project will also increase the size of the outdoor storage area by 300 sq. ft. To minimize construction and maintenance costs, the building will be constructed using split face CMU blocks. The heaters that have been selected for the project will be approximately 25% more efficient than the current heater. The roofing shingles that have been selected are made of 100% recycled products and have a 50-year warranty. The fencing enclosing the outdoor storage area will also be constructed using 100% recycled materials. In order to meet the current building codes adopted by the City, a new electrical service panel will also need to be installed as part of the project. Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the advertising of Contract 2000-03 for bids.
