HomeMy WebLinkAbout8.2 2nd Annual Car Show UpdateG~~~ OF DpB~ i9t ~ ~~ ~~ `~I~~~~ AGENDA STATEMENT ~~' ~ PARKS AND COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION ~~LIFOR~~ MEETING DATE: Apri116, 2012 SUBJECT: 2°d Annual Caz Show Update Report Prepared by, Henry Siu, Recreation Coordinator, and Micki Cronin, Assistant Director of Parks and Community Services ATTACHMENTS: None RECOMMENDATION: Receive Report FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: The City of Dublin's Youth Advisory Committee and Senior Center Advisory Committee, in collaboration with the Dublin Senior Center Foundation, aze coordinating the 2~ Annual Intergenerational Caz Show. This year's event is titled Dublin All America Car Show in recognition of the City being named an All America City. The event will take place on Saturday, Apri121, from 11:OOam to 3:OOpm at the Dublin Heritage Pazk and Museums. There is no cost to the public to attend the event. A Caz Show subcommittee has been established consisting of members of the Youth Advisory Committee, Senior Center Advisory Committees and the Dublin Senior Foundation. The subcommittee has been meeting monthly at the Shannon Community Center to plan the event. A new element this year will be the "Food Truck Mafia" to sell food and beverages. The "Food Truck Mafia" will be sending three food trucks and one dessert truck to the event. Local automotive businesses aze in support of this caz show and have donated $50 each to participate in this event. To date, six businesses have confirmed to participate in the event, they include: All Smogs, Keith's Autobahn, Matt's Classic Bowties, European Autoworks, Pazkway Body Shop, and Quality Tune Up. A Disc Jockey will play music from all genres during the event. All proceeds will be donated to the Youth Fee Assistance Program and the Dublin Senior Foundation. The Alameda County Sheriff's Police Explorer's program volunteers will be on site to provide assistance in pazking and directing vehicles during the event. The Alameda County Sheriffs department will also provide an "old style" police cruiser as well as a modern police cruiser. To date, there aze 37 cazs registered for this event and the number of cazs is increasing daily. The last day to register cazs into the show is April 17th. There is a $20 entry fee for each car. Cars from all eras and makes will be on display. Although the event title is All America Car Show, the vehicles do not need to be American made. Teens and adults are encouraged to enter vehicles. The event has been marketed to various local car clubs. Colorful event posters are posted throughout Dublin and Pleasanton. New releases have been sent to KKQI, Tri-Valley Community Television TV30, the Dublin Patch and the San Ramon Valley Times. The City's Recreation Activity Guide and website also have current event information. Staff will also be conducting a Vertical Response email promotion to customers in the City's registration database. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Parks and Community Services Commission receive the report. 2 of 2
