The cost of 4 signs, including hardware m~d installation is estimated
at $200. Only 2 signs will read "Mape Way". It is proposed that the
signs for Calle Verde and San Sabana at these intersections also be.
replaced so that all signs will match in size and style.
DESCRIPTION: At the request of the City Council. Staff noticed the proposed
changing of the name of the street directly adjacent to Mape Memorial Park, presently 'known as Plata
Vv ~v, to Mape Way. Council's purpose for the proposed change is to more closely identify the name of
the access street with the Park.
According to CiD' Municipal Code Section 7.080.070, the City Council ma)' initiate the process for a
street name change and make such a change without official referral to the Planning Commission for
hearing and without a public hearing before the City Council, if there are no addresses in use on the stree~
in question. Subsection F states that the proposed street name must first be referred to the City Planning
Conm~ission, Police Department, Dougherty Regional Fire Authority, U.S. Post Office, Almneda County,
the Cities of Livermore, San Ramon and Pleasanton, and any other agencies that Council designates
to approving the actual street name change.
At its meeting of June 3, 1997, Council directed Public Works to notify designated agencies of the
proposed street name change (Exhibit 2). Copies of the June 3rd agenda statemen'~ were also sent to
residents of Calle Verde and San Sabana, the pa,o streets connected by Plata Way. No comments were
received from public agencies or residents in the time given for response.
Staff recommends that the Ciw Council adopt the Resolution approving the change of sn'eet name fi'om
Plato Way to Mape Way.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
APPROVING STREET NAME CHANGE
FROM PLATA WAY TO MAPE WAY
WHEREAS, the City Council initiated a request to change the street name of the street adjacent to
Mape Memorial Park from "Plata Way" to "Mape Way"; and
V~q-IEREAS. the U.S. Postal Service, emergency services, and other appropriate agencies have no
objection to the proposed street name; and
V~q-IEREAS, Chapter 7.08 of the Dublin Municipal Code grants the City Council authority to
approve a change in street name by adoption of a resolution without holding a public hearing;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Dublin City Council fmds that the change in
street name is in compliance with Section 7.08.070 of the Dublin Municipal Code relating to changing of
public streets, and that the new' street name will not be detrimental to the public health, safety, or general
welfare.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council approves the name "Mape Way".

Change of Street Name in the City of Dublin
Dear Sir/Madam:
At their regular meeting of June 3, 1997, the Dublin City Council initiated the process to change
the street name of Plata Way to Mope Way. At present, Plata Way is the name of the street
that accesses Mope Memorial Park. The Council is recommending that the name be changed
to Mope Way.
Would you please review this request and respond to the Department of Public Works within
fifteen (15) days with your comments. If no response is received by June 20, 1997, it will be
considered that you have no objections to this change in street name.
