DESCRIPTION:
The League of California Cities (League) is an association of California city officials who work
together to enhance their knowledge and skills, exchange information, and combine resources
so that they may influence policy decisions that affect cities.
The League’s 2012 Annual Conference is scheduled for September 5-7, 2012, in San Diego.
An important part of the Annual Conference is the Annual Business Meeting. At this meeting,
the League membership considers and takes action on resolutions that establish League policy.
In order to vote, the City Council must designate a voting delegate for the League. The City
may also appoint up to two voting delegates, one of whom may vote in the event that the
designated voting delegate is unable to serve in that capacity.

In December 2010, the Mayor appointed, and the City Council approved, Cm. Swalwell as the
City’s voting delegate and Cm. Hildenbrand as the alternate. As neither one is able to attend
the upcoming conference, it is recommended the City Council designate another City Council
member as its voting delegate.
NOTICING REQUIREMENTS/PUBLIC OUTREACH:
The City Clerk will notify the League of the City Council’s appointment.
