Economic Development Strategy Workshop

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City Council will provide direction on items as part of the preparation of the Economic
Development Strategy. Economic & Planning Systems, Inc. will make a presentation on the
initial findings and data analysis of the Economic Development Strategy.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There will be no financial impact to the City.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council receive the report and provide Staff with direction on the
preparation of the Economic Development Strategy.

DESCRIPTION:
One of the City Council’s Fiscal Year 2012/13 Strategic Initiatives for Economic Development is
to complete the Economic Development Strategy. On March 20, 2012, the City Council
approved an Agreement with Economic & Planning Systems, Inc. (EPS) for an Economic
Development Strategy and General Plan Economic Development Element.
Since March 2012, Staff has worked with EPS in the collection of data. EPS has developed
an initial findings report through data collection, market analysis, stakeholder engagement and
a public workshop. EPS will report to the City Council the Economic Development Strategy
preliminary findings.
Staff recommends that the City Council receive the report and provide Staff with direction on the
preparation of the Economic Development Strategy.
