Selection of Vice Mayor

RECOMMENDATION: ~'Elect and Install Vice Mayor
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: In 1996, the City Council established a policy whereby a member of
the City Council would be selected in December of each year to serve as Vice Mayor for a period of one
year. In the absence of the Mayor, the Vice Mayor would become Mayor Pro Tempore and would assume
the temporary respons~ilities of the Mayor.
/- Staff recommends that the City Council determine who shall serve as Vice Mayor until December, 2000.
