HomeMy WebLinkAbout3.2 Acceptance of Paintings from Megan Zhu STAFF REPORT CITY CLERK File # 150-70 CITY COUNCIL DATE:September 4, 2012 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers FROM: Joni Pattillo, City Manager SUBJECT: Acceptance of Paintings from Megan Zhu Prepared by Chris Foss, Assistant City Manager EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The City Council will consider the acceptance of two paintings by Dublin resident, Megan Zhu. The paintings will be loaned to the City for two years and will be displayed in the reception area for the offices of the City Council and City Manager. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council accept the offer from Ms. Zhu for the two paintings. Submitted By Assistant City Manager DESCRIPTION: Councilmember Swalwell was contacted by a Dublin resident, Jane Ding, about two paintings her daughter Megan created while visiting one of the City of Dublin’s sister cities – Jinhau, China. Ms. Zhu, a senior at Valley Christian High School, painted two paintings depicting regional flowers and birds in Jinhau. Ms. Zhu would like to loan the paintings to the City for a period of two years. Staff is proposing to display the paintings in the reception area for the offices of the City Council and City Manager.
