One of those appointments was Brian Olkowski to the City's Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission. Ms. Iharosi's Application Page 1 of 1 ITEM NO. 3.2 HERITAGE & CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION s NAME : Timea Iharosi ADDRESS PHONE # (HOME) (WORK) DATE: 02/12/2012 E -Mail: 1. Why are you interested in serving on the Heritage & Cultural Arts Commission? As a Dublin resident I am interested in what happening in the city. As an Inside Dublin program Graduate I decided to participate in the life of the city. I like the energy what the city has; I like the willingness to do things. I am interested in the culture, the events. On the other hand I am a newcomer from Europe which means I have European experience which I think can be useable here in the city of Dublin. 2. In what organizations are you currently a member? Dublin Fine Arts Foundation Dublin Historical Preservation Association Other- (Please list) I am not a member of these organizations, but I am a volunteer at the Dublin Heritage Park. 2. What experience do you have serving on advisory committees, task forces, boards or commissions? I came from one of the European capital cities, from Budapest, where 2 million people lives. There are not exactly cultural and heritage activity like here. But inside the frame of my European employer the Hungarian Railway Company I organized a lot of events, for example Christmas parties, celebrations, and most importantly international meetings which always had cultural parts. I was responsible to show them the Hungarian heritage, the history and the culture. As a member of the European Network of Rail Training Centers I traveled a lot around Europe and I was lucky to be a part and experience the colorful European culture. 4. What education, training or experience do you have in cultural arts or heritage? As I mentioned in the previous section I have experience organizing events, and as a hobby I dealt with culture and heritage a lot, for example I made research on my family tree, because I believe that we have to know our roots to be able to be the ones we are now. My hobby is decorating, so the holidays, especially Christmas is my favorite. 5. List the artistic, cultural, and/or historic activities in which you have participated; particularly within the City of Dublin. Since we arrived to the USA in August 2011, and moved here to Dublin in November 2011 1 try to participate on the big happenings, for example the St. Patrick's day celebration, Farmers Market in Emerald Glen park. I just graduated in the Inside Dublin program, and applied for the Sheriff Office's Citizen's Academy, I applied to the Major task force, and I am an official Volunteer here in Dublin, in the Heritage Park. I will work for example on the 1" of December on the Holiday Fair. 6. What knowledge do you have of the Dublin Heritage Center? I know a lot about the activity of the Heritage Center. As an official Volunteer of the Dublin Heritage Center I received the volunteer manual, within the summary of the history of the city and the founder families. After my training I plan to work at the museum, and I will take part of organizing events around the cite. 7. What knowledge do you have of public art and public art programs in Dublin? In the frame of the Inside Dublin Program we learned about Dublin Public Arts and Public Art programs. My favorites are the Dublin signs along the Dublin Boulevard, with the shamrock background or the pictures under the 1 -680 overpass at the Dublin Boulevard, 8. How do you feel about making a decision for the overall good of the community that may he unpopular with neighbors or organizations? As an economist with 2 university degrees of economics and business I was responsible during my work to make decisions, it was part of my life. So decision making is not difficult for me. My experience is that there is no decision which is good for everyone, because we are different, but we should choose the decisions which suit the best interest of the stakeholders. In the case of the city of Dublin, the interest of the community. 9. What is the most important contribution you feel you can make as a member of the Heritage & Cultural Arts Commission? According my experience Dublin is a quick developing city, with a lot of energy in it because of the conununity. And I see that this city uses this energy to develop further. I am an energetic person and I think the city can use my energies too, with the ideas and experiences I have. With my European experience I can help to supplement the work here.
