November 19, 2012
The November 19, 2012 Regular Meeting of the Parks & Community Services Commission was called
to order at 7:01 PM at the Dublin Civic Center, Dublin,California, by Chair A.Elias.

Chair A.Elias led the Pledge of Allegiance.

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
3.1 BRIEF INFORMATIONAL ONLY REPORTS FROM SENIOR CENTER AND
YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEES
Senior Center Advisory Committee
Commissioner Mack reported that the Dublin Senior Center held two events: Hometown Heroes on
November 3,2012,and the Holiday Craft Boutique on November 17, 2012.
Youth Advisory Committee
Commissioner T.Elias reported that the Advisory Committee continues to work on ideas for fundraising
events for the Youth Fee Assistance Program.
3.2 PUBLIC COMMENTS—None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
4.1 October 15,2012
On a motion by Cm.Jones, seconded by Cm. Mack,and by a vote of 4-0-2 with Cm. Boboc and Vice Chair
Totaro abstaining, the Commission voted to approve the minutes of October 15, 2012, as presented.
Cm. Boboc and Vice Chair Totaro abstained from the vote due to their absence from the October 15,
2012 meeting.

8.1 Quarterly Report
Ms. Micki Cronin, Assistant Director of Parks and Community Services, presented the specifics of the
Report.

Chair A.Elias commented that registration numbers continue to be strong. He stated that Staff is doing a
good job with activity offerings and scheduling. He asked whether Staff is considering offering a youth
tennis tournament given the large number of registrations for youth tennis programs. Ms. Cronin stated
that Staff offered a tennis tournament last year, but received nominal interest. She stated that Staff will
continue to look into offering a tournament based on demonstrated interest.
8.2 Holiday Events Update
Ms. Micki Cronin, Assistant Director of Parks and Community Services, presented the specifics of the
item as outlined in the Staff Report.
Vice Chair Totaro asked if the Dublin High School Irish Guard and Band would be serving the breakfast at
the Breakfast with Santa event. Cm. Jones said yes, and stated that the Dublin Lion's Club also assists
with serving and preparing the breakfast at the event.
Cm. Jones stated that he is pleased with the popularity of the Holiday Tea event held at the Heritage
Park& Museums.
Cm.T.Elias suggested offering two seatings at the Holiday Tea event since it is such a popular event. Ms.
Cronin stated that Staff would look into it.

9.1 BRIEF INFORMATION ONLY REPORTS FROM PARKS&COMMUNITY SERVICES
COMMISSIONERS AND/OR STAFF
Vice Chair Totaro reported that he met with the president of the San Ramon Raptors Lacrosse Club to
discuss the idea of starting a team in Dublin. He reported that he attended the Hometown Heroes event
at the Dublin Senior Center and the Tri-Valley Commissioners' Dinner in Livermore.
Cm. Mack reported that she attended the Tri-Valley Commissioners' Dinner in Livermore.
Chair A.Elias reported that he attended the Dublin High School 'Raise Your Class'gala in San Ramon. He
suggested that the next event be held at the Shannon Community Center to keep the event in the City.
Ms. Franklin reminded the Commissioners about the upcoming Commission vacancies and that
applications are being accepted through December 3, 2012.
