The donation amount of $1,000 will be used for costs associated with updating Crime Prevention and School Resource Officers with drug education training. The Dublin City Council will present the Bilich family with a Certificate of Appreciation for their donation. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The $1,000 donation will assist the Dublin Police Services Crime Prevention Unit with funding drug education training for Crime Prevention and School Resource Officers. The Dublin Crime Prevention and School Resource Officers will use the funds for $1,000 in drug education training classes. This donation is not included in the Fiscal Year 2012 -2013 Adopted Budget. The City Council will need to approve a Budget Change that recognizes the new revenue and expenditure. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council accept the $1,000 donation, approve the Budget Change and formally recognize the donor. ,✓N , Submitted By Police Chief DESCRIPTION: 1� R ry ew d' y Finance Manager Reviewed by Assistant City Manager On Friday, December 28, 2012, the Bilich family delivered a check to Dublin Police Services in the amount of $1,000 as a donation for use in children's education (Attachment 1). Currently the Dublin Police Crime Prevention Unit offers drug education classes to Dublin elementary, middle, and high school students. The funds will be used in provide updated drug education training to Crime Prevention and School Resource Officers. This updated training will Page 1 of 2 ITEM NO. 3.3 enable officers to provided better training, education and detection for other police officers, school officials and parents for children enrolled in Dublin public and private schools. This type of education will benefit the community by enhancing their awareness of prescription drug abuse. The City Council will need to approve the proposed Budget Change (Attachment 2) to accept the funds and appropriate the funds for use in FY 2012 -13.
