DESCRIPTION:
For 37 years, the Golden Nugget Awards have honored exceptional achievements in architectural design
and land planning for residential, commercial and industrial projects. The Golden Nugget Awards are also
known as the "Best in the West". This years winners emerged form 594 entries submitted from the
fourteen Western States and the Countries of the Pacific Rim. A "Golden Nugget" is awarded to forty-
nine categories ranging from the best single-family residential design/commercial project to the best
Community/Town Plan.
The Dublin Ranch Town Center project which was approved by the City Council in March 2000 was
awarded a Golden Nugget Award for the 'Best On-the-Boards Site Plan'. In making its decision the
Golden Nugget Awards Judges stated that the project demonstrated "a superb effort at integrating all the
elements of a large new community into a coherent neighborhood. A central retail street fulfils
neighborhood shopping needs for the community, while a large playground, a neighborhood square and
small parks provide active recreational opportunities. An interconnected arterial system provides easy
access to all parts of the community as well as parallel parking. Residential areas of varying densities
strategically flank the central shopping street. Overall a comprehensive, coherent and residential-friendly
vision for a new community".
The Dublin Ranch Town Center also known, as 'Area G' is located on approximately 87 acres of land,
north of Interstate 580 and east of Tassajara Road. The Town Center will incorporate a pedestrian-
oriented 'Main Street', bike and pedestrian trails, parks, open space, public uses and high density
residential neighborhoods to provide a retail and entertainment focus for the Dublin Ranch community.
At the City Council, Martin Inderbitzen, representing the developer Sierra Land Development Corporation
will present the City with the award.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council receive award to be presented by Martin
Inderbitzen
