HomeMy WebLinkAbout4.03 SierraCt-CivicPlazaNmChAGENDA STATEMENT CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: August 28, 1989 REPORT PREPARED BY: Rod Barger, Senior Planner SUBJECT: PA 89-099 Civic Center Street Name Change EXHIBITS ATTACHED: Exhibit A: Resolution approving Street Name Change Attachment 1: Area Map RECOMMENDATION: FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Adopt Resolution approving Street Name Change allowing the southern terminus of Sierra Court (south of Dublin Boulevard) to be renamed "Civic Plaza" with the proposed address of the Civic Center to be #100 Civic Plaza The cost for production and installation of new street identification signage is estimated at $500.00. DESCRIPTION: As a part of the construction of the new Civic Center facility, a new entry street was built on what is currently identified as the southern terminus of Sierra Court. The Civic Center Advisory Committee of the City of Dublin is requesting that the southern terminus of Sierra Court (south of Dublin Boulevard only) be renamed "Civic Plaza" with the proposed address of the Civic Center to be #100 Civic Plaza. Section 5~28.11 of the City's Municipal Code establishes procedures and authorizes the City Council to change the name of any street within the City. In compliance with established procedures, the proposed street name change was referred for review and comment to Alameda County (Planning and Assesor's offices), Contra Costa County Planning Department, the Cities of San Ramon, Pleasanton and Livermore, the U.S. Post Office, DRFA, DSRSD, as well as the Dublin Police, Public Works and Building Departments. Ail referenced agencies have indicated that the proposed street name change is acceptable. Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the resolution approving the Street Name Change for the southern terminus of Sierra Court (south of Dublin Boulevard), renaming it to "Civic Plaza" with the proposed address of the Civic Center to be ~100 Civic Plaza. COPIES TO: Applicant Owner PA 89-099 -1- RESOLUTION NO. 89 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN APPROVING PA 89-099 CIVIC CENTER STREET NAME CHANGE, RENAMING THE SOUTHERN TERMINUS OF SIERRA COURT (SOUTH OF DUBLIN BOULEVARD) TO "CIVIG PLAZA" WITH THE PROPOSED ADDRESS OF THE CIVIC CENTER TO BE #100 CIVIC PLAZA WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 4-83 of the Dublin City Council authorizes the City Council to change the name of a street and establishes procedures for street name changes; and WHEREAS, the Civic Center Advisory Conimittee of the City of Dublin requested that the street name for the southern terminus of Sierra Court (south of Dublin Boulevard) be changed; and WHEREAS, the addresses on Sierra Court south of Dublin Boulevard are not currently in use; and WHEREAS, the street name change request was referred to the appropriate public agencies for review and comment; a~d WHEREAS, the public agencies have indicated their respective concurrence with the proposed street name change; and WHEREAS, the Dublin City Council considered both written and oral testimonies presented by Staff and the general public concerning the proposed street name change at the August 28, 1989 City Council meeting. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Dublin City Council does hereby resolve that: a. The street name change is in compliance with Sections 5-28.6 and 5- 28.11 of the City's Municipal Code relating to the naming and numbering of streets. b. The street name change will not be detrimental to the public health, safety or general welfare. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Dublin City Council hereby approves the street name change requested with PA 89-099, renaming the southern terminus of Sierra Court (south of Dublin Boulevard) to Civic Plaza with the proposed address of the Civic Center to be #100 Civic Plaza.
