ITEM NO. 3.6 Page 1 of 2 During the past year, the Youth Advisory Committee assisted in the coordination of the following events and programs:  “splatter” - Youth Advisory Committee Members assisted at the “splatter” event by operating the “SPLAT-demonium,” an activity in which participants wore a white painter suit under a festival shirt and were “splattered” with water based, non-toxic paint as they went through an obstacle course. Participants were able to keep the event shirt and the painter suit with their own one-of-a-kind personal paint designs. It was a fun activity for all who participated.  St. Patrick’s Day Festival – The Youth Advisory Committee Members operated a booth that featured a “Spinning Wheel” in which festival attendees could spin the wheel for prizes. Youth Advisory Committee members also shared information about the Youth Advisory Committee and the Parks and Community Services Department.  Teen Job Fair – This is a collaborative event with the cities of San Ramon, Pleasanton, and Dublin in partnership with the Dublin/San Ramon Women’s Club. This year’s event was held at the City of San Ramon’s Dougherty Station Community Center. The Youth Advisory Committee Members assisted with set-up and clean-up at the event. The City of Dublin will host the event in 2015.  Dublin Community Car Show – The Youth Advisory Committee and the Senior Center Advisory Committee collaborated on an intergenerational effort to assist with the Third Annual Dublin Community Car Show. Both sets of Committee Members worked together to set-up the event, manage the car registrations, and operate a craft booth. The Third Annual Community Car Show had an all-time high of 137 cars on display and more than 400 persons in attendance.  Youth Mini-Grant Program – New this year, the Youth Advisory Committee offered a grant program to support local youth and teen programs that serve Dublin youth. Five applications were received. The Youth Advisory Committee Members reviewed the applications and each club/organization made a presentation to Youth Advisory Committee regarding the benefits of their grant proposal. In total, $1,200 was divided amongst the five groups.  Youth Benefit Concert – New this spring, a Youth Benefit Concert was held at the Shannon Community Center to showcase local youth with special musical talents. These Youth Advisory Committee programs and events contributed over $3,200 to the City’s Youth Fee Assistance Program this year, providing recreational opportunities for 16 youth in the community whose families have economic challenges. The Youth Advisory Committee members will make a presentation to the City Council on the various Youth Advisory Committee goals, activities and accomplishments for the 2012 -2013 term.
