Wetherford, Economic Development Analyst EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: On May 1, 2007, the City Council approved the Business Anniversary Program to identify those companies that have reached 10, 20 and 30 years of establishment, and to recognize those companies each year in May and November. Staff recommends amending the Program to recognize businesses in five-year increments starting with 20 years of establishment and above at a City Council meeting held twice a year as opposed to May and November, and continue recognizing companies celebrating 10 years with a Certificate of Recognition. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council approve the amendments to the Business Anniversary Program. Submitted By Reviewed By Economic Development Director Assistant City Manager DESCRIPTION: On May 1, 2007, the City Council approved the Business Anniversary Program to recognize local Dublin-based businesses that have achieved significant milestone anniversaries (10 years, 20 years and 30 years) in the community. The recognition is as follows: • 10-year business would receive a Certificate of Recognition from the Mayor; and • 20 and 30 year businesses would receive a plaque at a City Council meeting in May and November of each year. ITEM NO. 8.1 Page 1 of 2 Staff is recommending that the Program be amended to recognize businesses with 20 years or more in increments of five-years with a plaque at a City Council meeting to be held twice a year as opposed to May and November of each year, providing staff with some flexibility. Businesses celebrating 10 years would continue to be recognized with a Certificate of Recognition from the Mayor which will be mailed to them. NOTICING REQUIREMENTS/PUBLIC OUTREACH: None.
