DESCRIPTION: On February 18, 2003, on the recommendation of the Senior Center
Advisory Committee and Parks and Community Services Commission, the City Council approved the
schematic design for the new Dublin Senior Center. The schematic design was created based on the results
of extensive input from facility users and Staff. Based on the approved schematic design the Architect
prepare, d the Design Development Package, which includes the building finishes together with interior and
exterior wall and floor treatments and color schemes.
The Design Development Package was presented to the Senior Advisory Committee on April 10, 2003.
After reviewing the two alternatives prepared by the Architect, the Advisory Committee asked for a third
alternative and requested that a joint meeting be conducted with the Parks and Community Services
Commission in order to come to a decision on the preferred alternative. A third alternative was prepared and
prior to the joint meeting all three alternatives were displayed at the Senior Center for input. A joint meeting
of the Parks and Community Services Commission and Senior Center Advisory Committee was held on
April 21, 2003 to review the three alternative Design Development Packages. As there was not a quorum of
the Senior Advisory Committee a formal vote of the Committee was not taken. However the Committee
members in attendance provided their input and the input from the Senior Center constituents to the Parks
and Community Services Commission. Based on this input and after reviewing the three altematives, the
Parks and Community Services Commission recommends approval by the City Council of Alternative C (to
be presented to the City Council at the meeting).
In order to begin preparation of the construction documents, the Architect needs final approval of the
Design Development Package for the project. The Architect has prepared renderings of the exterior and
interior elevations of the building. The architect will present the renderings at the meeting and, in
addition to reviewing the proposed elevations, the architect will also present materials options for the
interior and exterior finishes and colors. These finishes will include proposed flooring, wall coverings,
building cladding, woodwork, etc.
