DESCRIPTION: At the April 10, 1995, meeting, the City Council conducted a public hearing regarding proposed speed limit changes for three street segments: Amador Vallev Boulevard from Village Parkway to Stagecoach Road, Peppertree Road from West Vomac to Silvergate Drive, and Dougherty Road from Monterey to Amador Valley Boulevard. Based on engineering traffic surveys, speed limits were recommended to increase to 30 mph for these segments of Amador Valley Boulevard and Peppertree Road, and to 45 mph for this segment of Dougherty Road. The City's Police Chief recommended that the speed limits remain at 25 mph for Amador Valley Boulevard and Peppertree Road and that the Dougherty Road segment be increased to 40 mph rather than 45 mph. After reviewing Staff's presentation and comments from members of the public, the City Council introduced the draft ordinance which reflected the Police Chief's recommendation; i.e., to increase the speed limit on Dougherty Road between Monterey Drive and Amador Valley Boulevard from 35 mph to 40 mph. The speed limits on Amador Valley Boulevard and Peppertree Road were determined to remain at 25 mph. Staff recommends that the City Council conduct a public hearing, deliberate, and adopt the ordinance, which establishes a revised speed limit of 40 mph for Dougherty Road only. g:~trafficlagstspd2 ITEM NO.
