DESCRIPTION:
Each year, on the first Tuesday in August, cities nationwide celebrate National Night Out, which
promotes community involvement in crime prevention activities, police community partnerships,
th
neighborhood camaraderie and building safer communities. August 6, 2013 marked the 30
Anniversary of National Night Out and the City Council proclaimed that date as National Night
Out in the City of Dublin.
The City demonstrated its support of National Night Out by hosting a Kickoff event for
Neighborhood Watch participants at Dublin Heritage Park & Museums on July 17.
Approximately 75 Dublin residents joined the festivities, which included a public safety display,
ice cream social, story time for children, museum tours, and information booths. Two of the
Neighborhood Watch Block Captains led a presentation which included recognition of Block
Captains and concluded with a raffle for prizes.

On August 6, residents throughout the City of Dublin displayed their pride, unity, and strength by
hosting events in their neighborhoods. City Council members, Police and Fire personnel,
Neighborhood Resources staff, and California Highway Patrol Officers visited neighborhood
celebrations throughout the City. Over 1,500 people in the Dublin community participated in this
year’s event.
The City would like to recognize several businesses that made in-kind contributions to the City
to help make National Night Out successful and memorable. Heath’s Welding Supply donated
helium to inflate National Night Out balloons; Lowe’s donated a hand truck and storage bins to
help facilitate event preparation; and both Target and Lowe’s donated raffle prizes, including a
pop-up tent, flashlights, energy efficient light bulbs, buckets, party snacks, Frisbees, water
